Love is what we live for. Literally., The absence of love has caused failure to thrive in infants, early death in elders, chronic pain in anyone and longer healing time in everyone. Love is the elixir of life and without someone (or some other living thing) to love, everything that makes us who we are suffers for it. We need TO love more than we need to BE loved. It seems that exercising our hearts is more important than feeding it. Say what you will, even unrequited love has an exquisite (albeit masochistic) pleasure in it. :-) But where will we find someone to love?
